Feminist Book Fortnight started on Saturday 4th May and ends on 18th May 2019
Feminist Book Fortnight
Over 60 Bookshops around the UK are taking part in ‘Feminist Book Fortnight’ and Woodbridge Emporium is one of them…! You try and stop us, I have been so excited about this event!
FBF is a celebration of feminist and equality books, feminist achievements, women authors and classic books written by women.
During FBF we will have a dedicated area in our Woodbridge Emporium shop and on our website, for books and products that empower, entertain and enlighten women of all ages. We will have books for young readers to learn more about equality and to read about brilliant women in history. We will be reintroducing some awesome classic books written by women, whilst introducing some of the new and upcoming feminist and equality writers. These FBF products and books will have special discounts, plus we have some bonus reading material and FREE gifts with certain purchases (Tote Bags, Badges & Bookmarks, etc)
Why FBF I hear you asking…
Well, I have always been a bit of an equal rights enthusiast, human and animal activist and believer in positive, confident thinking. The #MeToo campaign, as well as many other movements around the world, have, and not before time, brought the issues of women (and men) to the forefront. Subsequently, there has been an explosion of new female publishing and writing over the last 3 years that needs to be shouted about. Young and new feminists or equal rights activists are discovering classic writings creating a resurgence in Classic Books written by females. Being a female family-run bookshop, I wanted to celebrate FBF and promote female writers (new and old) while providing a space for discussions and learning. Although this event is published as Feminist Book Fortnight, it is an inclusive event for everybody (this includes men!). Myself and my Team at Woodbridge Emporium welcome literally everyone who wants to join in because we really do love and want to empower all our customers, supporters and friends.
